March 17, 2015 

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating a series of larcenies from vehicles. The larcenies occurred at local YMCAs and other gym parking lots on January 29, 2015 between 10:00-11:00PM, February 9, 2015 between 6:00-8:00PM, and February 10, 2015 between 5:40-7:45AM. The suspect is a black male dressed in work-out clothing and is believed to have been driving a 2005 silver Chrysler Town and Country minivan with Washington DC personalized license plates displaying STLBOSS.

The suspect gains access to the vehicle by breaking out a window and grabbing womens’ purses and bags. He keeps gift cards, glasses, sunglasses, and anything else that does not have personal information on it. He has also made purchases of gas using victim’s credit cards. The bags are typically discarded once he is done looking through them.

March 10, 2015

On January 10, 2015 a white female and black male entered Kmart, located at 2315 Wards Rd., Walgreens, located at 5006 Boonsboro Rd., and Walgreens, located at 21400 Timberlake Rd. and used multiple stolen credit cards to make purchases. Items that were purchased using the stolen credit cards include jewelry and prepaid Visa debit cards. The total amount of all transactions using the stolen credit cards is approximately $3,500.

February 24, 2015

On January 15, 2015, an individual pictured in the attached photograph walked out of the Walmart in Altavista with a 55” Vizio television and a 42” Vizio soundbar that he did not pay for. The combined value of both items was over $800.

February 12, 2015

On February 8, 2015 at approximately 3:00 PM, Dawhon Carter, a 35 year old male from Lynchburg, was shot in the foot in front of the Coin Laundry located at 3216 Old Forest Road. The victim was transported to Lynchburg General Emergency Department where he was treated for his wound and released.

 January 27, 2015

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating multiple break-ins at the Alleghany U-Store-It self-storage facility located at 505 Alleghany Avenue. All of the incidents were reported this month. Several storage units have had multiple items stolen including:     Multiple sets of rims and tires, including 20” Vogue white-wall tires with a yellow stripe on Cadillac rims,  Men’s clothing,  Four tree-stands,  Fishing equipment,  Craftsman hand tools,  One Whirlpool and one GE window A/C unit,  4’ Industrial floor fan,  An automobile engine,  2’ Porcelain Indian dolls, and  Firearm ammunition.

Additionally, an equipment trailer was also broken into next door to the storage facility. Several commercial-grade Echo grass trimmers and leaf blowers were stolen in that theft.

January 20, 2015

On January 8, 2015, the two subjects pictured in the attached photos attempted to steal several hundred dollars’ worth of merchandise from Walmart on Wards Rd.  When confronted by a store employee, the suspects handed the property to the employee and walked back into the store.  The suspects then went through the aisles and gathered more merchandise into a shopping cart.  Using a different exit, the suspects left the store with the new stolen property.

The white female suspect appeared to be between the ages of 20-30 years old, with a height of 5’04” to 5’07” and weight between 140 and 200 lbs. She had long red hair that was worn in a ponytail.

The black male was approximately 6’00” tall and 200 lbs. He was wearing black-frame eyeglasses and had an earring in his right ear.

January 13, 2015

On January 5, 2015 a victim noticed that her credit card statements contained several purchases that she did not make.  She reported the suspicious activity to the Lynchburg Police Department.  The investigation developed three suspects in the fraudulent activity who are depicted in the attached photos.  The suspects were involved in obtaining thousands of dollars worth of merchandise through the use of the victim’s credit card.

 January 6, 2015

Sometime between the evening hours of December 23rd and the early morning hours of December 24th, unknown subject(s) broke into a residence in the 1500 Block of Avondale Drive, in the Town of Altavista, and stole numerous Christmas gifts. The items taken from the residence included various electronics, a scooter, and even a small child’s piggy bank.

Entry was gained by breaking a window, opening the window locks, and climbing through the ground floor window.

December 16, 2014

On the weekend of 11/8/14, a burglary occurred at the Miller-Built business located at 2200 12th Street, Lynchburg, VA. 6 Stihl chainsaws and a Stihl backpack blower were stolen along with several other items from the business.

November 25, 2014

Over the past few months, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office has worked several cases in the Timberlake Rd./Evington area where elderly victims were targeted. In each case, the victims were approached at their residence by white males. While the first man distracts the victim, another white male goes inside the victim’s residence and takes their belongings. In each case, the offender talked to the victims about a consignment type store that he is planning on opening up in the Altavista area.

Over the past year, several locations have had similar types of crimes. These criminals are well prepared with their scam before they go to the elderly victim’s residence.

November 18, 2014

On 11/14/14 at approximately 4:15 pm two victims entered a bathroom at Miller Park when they were approached by a white male displaying a handgun. Suspect made both victims lay on the ground. At that point he went through each of their pockets where he removed property from each to include an Apple IPhone 4S and an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect description is as follows:

  • White male, early thirties.
  • 5’7”-5’8”, stocky build.
  • Wearing a black silk “doo-rag” on his head, blue jeans, tan work boots and a blue bandanna covering his face.
  • Victims stated the suspect had a distinct walk as if he was walking on his toes.

November 11, 2014

On October 10, 2014 an unknown light skinned black or Hispanic female used a stolen credit card at numerous businesses in the City of Lynchburg. The businesses include KMart, Food Lion, Burlington Coat Factory, TJ Maxx, Walgreens, and Kroger.
